Westbury Estate, Lambeth

Camlins is working with Tibbalds, Metropolitan Workshop and Maccreanor Lavington to develop an open space masterplan as part of the comprehensive regeneration of Westbury Estate. The existing estate suffers from many issues typical of 60s/70s vintage social housing in London. It currently comprises relatively low density housing designed to superseded standards and displays typically poor quality and ill defined external spaces. The project will deliver 250+ affordable homes. Engagement with residents is central to the brief. There are three overarching landscape objectives. First, to connect the estate with neighbouring Heathbrook Park. Second, to create a new public realm that encompasses the whole estate, including two retained tower blocks. Third, to create a safe, family friendly and green neighbourhood. The resulting green space network will be transformative in enhancing the everyday lives of residents.
