Town Square, West Bromwich

The advent of THE pUBLIC Building, the proposed refurbishment of Queens Square shopping centre and a major Tesco development presented an unmissable opportunity to the various agents of regeneration to remodel the centre of West Bromwich. The concept of Town Square is a series of spaces, buildings and activities which together create a vibrant centre to West Bromwich, in short, a new heart to the town. This proposal weaves together public realm implementation with commercial development potential which is essential to achieve the vision. The public funded environmental improvements are a catalyst for developer investment. In turn, development then allows the public realm to reach its potential in contributing towards the prosperity and cultural richness of the town. This commission was accompanied by instructions to design and implement the first phase of Town Square in time for the opening of THE pUBLIC Building.
