The Landings, Poole

These nine later living apartments enjoy a very special location on Evening Hill, overlooking Poole Harbour. We have drawn inspiration from the local coastal landscape. The approach from Sandbanks Road enters a front garden with mature coastal pines overhead. All of the apartments open onto southwest facing terraces and decks with uninterrupted views across Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island.

At the rear, a giant rockery terraces down to the ‘sea garden’ at the waters edge, the perfect spot to socialise at the BBQ. The garden is appointed with Purbeck limestone flags and self-finished hardwood. This informal style, natural materiality and coastal cliff plant species help the building merge into its surroundings. The penthouse apartment has a miniature Japanese garden, open to the sky, set behind glass in the middle of the apartment.

“The design and implementation of the planting scheme at The Landings has been superb and had a direct impact on both creating a great kerb appeal for purchasers and a calming environment for our residents. The incorporation of the rockery into the retaining boundary wall was pure genius, and created a beautiful focal point to the water front garden whilst providing a very clever structural solution.”
