The Residence, Nine Elms

This development will provide 500+ apartments with GF mixed uses, as part of the transformation of Nine Elms. The open space strategy is coordinated with future surrounding development to ensure public realm continuity. This has required working creatively with levels to join former separate brownfield sites. The street level spaces are high quality public realm in accordance with the prevailing design codes, but with locally distinctive features and planting. The proposals include SUDS, using the tree pits to attenuate rainfall, an approach known as the ‘Stockholm Method’. The two podium gardens are of different character, the west garden is quite formal with a focus on play, with the east garden a quieter and more informal space, with mounding to accommodate tree planting. The terraced planters produce a cascade of greenery, joining the east podium with Ponton Road. Camlins work included a richly planted marketing suite.
