Eastside Park, Birmingham

Eastside City Park, Birmingham’s first major city centre park for more than one hundred years is described by Birmingham City Council as an ‘iconic’ and ’inspirational 21st century park’. The budget was set at £12m. Camlins led one of six teams selected for an international design competition which attracted more than 100 inquiries. BCC stated that the six practices represent major names in the world of landscape design with proven ability to produce inspirational design solutions. The shortlisting panel included representatives from CABESpace, Millennium Point, the Landscape Institute and the BCC City Design Team. Specific requirements, such as engaging with the public and working within grant regimes, along with the capacity, expertise and experience to deliver a complex design and construction project of exceptional quality and inspiration were also key criteria for the selection of candidates. We were delighted that the Camlins team was chosen as one of the leading environmental design teams at a national level.
