Brassington Avenue, Sutton Coldfield

Camlins work was crucial in establishing planning consent for this later living community of 240 apartments in the centre of Sutton Coldfield, bringing an active community with new green spaces and urban biodiversity. Working closely with Glenn Howells Architects, we identified three strategic moves that proved convincing. The first step was to make a real avenue by planting large trees along the length of the street. This will complete the green encirclement of the shopping centre, joining Birmingham Road with Park Road. It would also reinforce the strategic green corridor for local wildlife. The second step, taking inspiration from Sutton Park, was to create a mass of greenery to transform this side of the town centre. The third step was to ensure that the entrances to the new buildings will face directly onto Brassington Avenue. These smart new frontages will bring life to the avenue to create a lively and appealing atmosphere.
